A Summer of Campaigns for Global e-Bike and Scooter Brand, Lime.
There are some briefs that land on your desk that feel like the culmination of your work to date, and Lime was that. The global e-bike and scooter brand was lacking some muscle in their internal design teams over the summer break, and needed external support on a few campaigns.
Having worked in advertising for over a decade, across copywriting, design and creative direction, this was perfectly in our wheelhouse, but also provided its own challenges.
First, how do you tell a brand from a very digital age that the colour of their logo — the intrinsic vibrant lime green that they are essentially made of, and known for, that it doesn’t translate to traditional 4-colour print outputs? They had no approved Pantone, and no print guidelines for its faithful reproduction.
We worked with their marketing department to put those standards in place, and source specialist 6-colour printers — practices that have hopefully stood the test of time for their marketing teams.
The work itself was a joy; we navigated the challenges of working on multi-language campaigns, localising our copy and design for differences in format, placement — and even humour; what’s on-the-nose and lightly funny for a UK audience won’t translate (literally) in Madrid.
We designed ‘Don’t Drink and Lime’ swing tags to hang off every scooter in London, billboards in San Francisco, Melbourne, Madrid and Dublin Airport, as well as designing, building and copy editing email marketing templates to go out to their customer-base worldwide.
