Set your alarm clock: delivering transcontinental tone of voice workshops for global media brand, Involved Media.

What do you get if you cross two Australian media company teams and an interhemispheric Zoom call at 6 in the morning? It’s not a joke. That was the set up for the tone of voice workshops we did with Involved Media, and more specifically their Australian division, based in Melbourne and Sydney.

Involved Media had instructed us to run some tone of voice workshops with them, which we were able to do from the UK, albeit a little early in the morning.

The Melbourne and Sydney teams were in their respective offices, and we spoke to them virtually, guiding them towards uncovering their brand voice through a series of practical exercises. Brand voice, or tone of voice, is often the part of the brand guidelines that gets overlooked, but increasingly — especially with the advent of AI producing a company’s copy itself, “what do we sound like?” is just as important a question as “what do we look like?”

What Involved Media had found is that their brand voice was inconsistent; their creds deck didn’t match their pitch proposals; their internal dialogue seemed to have a multiple personality disorder. This led to a lack of confidence in producing collateral of any kind, and slowed down their progress.

Once we’d established a tone of voice archetype that they could hang their hat on, we rewrote their entire website copy with that tone in mind. Cohesive and characterful, suddenly every statement landed like it never had before.
